Daily Buddhist teachings and guided meditation

You don't have to meditate well. You just have to keep coming back.

Almost everyone I teach has already tried to build a daily practice. Three days, then four, then one morning slips, and it's gone. Maintaining a daily practice can be difficult in the beginning. This group is here to help you become more consistent.

That is the whole reason this group exists.

It started on 13 April 2026, the first day of Songkran, which is the new year in much of the Buddhist world. I said I would begin once five people joined. It filled the same day.

Who this is for

This is for anyone who wants to meditate more or to understand the teachings of the Buddha from both a classical and modern perspective.

It's especially for those who recognize the benefits of daily practice, but can't seem to do it consistently on their own.

If you used to have a regular practice and lost it, this is for you.

What you get from this group

Every day it's a reminder to practice, to show up for yourself, but we do have a schedule

  • Monday is a reminder to practice, the topic for the week, and most often a guided meditation

  • Tuesday we have a short teaching, establishing the simple version of the week's lesson

  • Wednesday we go a little deeper and refine our practice

  • Thursday is just a reminder to practice, often just "remember to practice today."

  • Friday we expand a little bit more, often a longer explanation of the topic

  • Saturday is a quote or a very short teaching

  • Sunday is a day when we practice gratitude, and we commit to the next week of practice.

You're always welcome to ignore it all and do your own thing, just using the morning message as a reminder

What we talk about

Topics change each week, but I try to keep it relevant to normal life as much as possible.

Sometimes we may go deeper into some topics, and sometimes we may explore other Buddhist adjacent teachings. But, for the most part I stay with the early Buddhist teachings, taken from the suttas as a base. From there we may expand to make it more understandable in the modern world.

Previous topics have included: loving-kindness and the nature of love, compassion and why self-compassion is so important, anger and how to manage it, the difference between equanimity and not caring, letting go of attachments, the nature of non-self vs the often misunderstood no-self, why the word "suffering" is misunderstood/mistranslated and what "dukkha" really means... and many others.

A few things to know

To keep it calm and low on noise, I leave messages on but ask that you don't reply in the group unless: you need clarity or have a question others might benefit from, I ask for input, or it's urgent - you need the group's support, or something major happened in life. Short questions and messages of support are welcome...

Otherwise, message me privately anytime. 🙏
